It’s funny how three letters can be the center of the news and have the whole country spend millions for each hearing. ZTE…NBN… Or how the 7-year old drama of ousting the president, sending him to jail could just end up giving him a pardon. How lame, right?

For the past years, since I let myself became aware of what’s happening in our country, it never fails to amuse me how forgetful we, Filipinos, are. I guess I must not exonerate myself, since there’s no denying that I am a Filipino.

A 51-year old surrogate mother for her daughter gave birth to her new twin grandchildren last Thursday, September 27, 2007.

Rosinette Serrao, a government health worker, gave birth to twin boys through Caesarian section. No harm occurred during the delivery and they were discharged last Saturday. The surgery was performed 2 weeks ahead of her supposed due date because the brand-new grandmother is having difficulty in sleeping.

Filipino communities around the world got pissed off after a dissing remark was made by Teri Hatcher’s character from Desperate Housewives.

The episode in which Teri’s character was in denial of her menopausal stage, these lines were said by Susan Mayer: Before we go any further, can I check the diplomas ‘cause I would just like to make sure that they’re not from some med schools in the Philippines.

Britney Spears has sought revenge on the paparazzi – by filming the photographers every move.

Britney was seen recording photographers with her new hand-held camcorder as they waited for her outside a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles on Wednesday last week. Looking triumphant, she pointed the camera on the shocked faces of paparazzi. Rumor has it that she is starting a documentary about her life. The singer was also quoted telling the photographers the same line they’re using when hounding her, “You are beautiful!”

 

Winfrey, 53, now leads Forbes.com’s list of the 20 richest celebrities on television.

When it comes to what pays on US television, talk doesn’t come cheap – nor apparently does a loud mouth. Financial magazine Forbes published a list of the highest-paid TV celebrities, with daytime talk show host Oprah Winfrey leading the way by earning $260 million between June 2006 and June 2007. This is her 3rd year reign on the list.
