Drag Me To Hell

Christine refused to extend an old lady’s mortgage. Turns out, old lady was a gypsy and has a thing with curses. Luckily, Christine has Clay, a very supportive albeit confused boyfriend. After seeing a fortune teller, she finds out she has 3 days to live, unless she can turn the Lamia (the curse from the old lady) away. Typical horror plot. But different approach. Unlike the other Korean-horrorfilm wannabees, the movie build tension and scare through visual AND sound effects. Not the type where everything goes silent and then BAM! Movie’s going pretty well until the finale comes to the screen. Well, it is predictable really. But given the chase, it should have at least not left you hanging on to your seats, and then, huh? That part

The Hangover

Personally, I like this movie. It has the elements of a good laugh movie. Except of course for the crude one-liners, but hey, nobody’s complaining. Unless you are from prude-town. Guys went to Las Vegas to throw a classic bachelor party. Thing is, come morning, they can’t remember what happened last night, one of them lost his tooth, a baby was in a closet, plus the groom is missing. As they tried to make a list of the things they did last night, they found out they’ve been rape-drugged, stole Mike Tyson’s tiger, one of them married a whore, stole a police car. Oh, and a psychotic, trash-mouthed Chinese is after them for money. The scriptwriter did come up with a refreshing way of showing an aftermath of a wild night in Las Vegas. I laughed from the beginning until the end of this movie. That was hilarious. It gave me a headache afterwards. Excessive laughing. It maybe a classic comedy with a Dude, where’s my car twist (that movie came up in my mind as soon as I realized the plot), b…

Fired Up!

I never wanted to watch this movie at first, but since I’ve got nothing to watch (since all my favorite series had their season ended), I gave it a shot. The title alone will leave you an impression that the movie is about dirty and slutty with jokes hanging around. Nick and Shawn are your typical highschool footballers whose minds are set with one thing:girls. With football camp fast approaching, they decided to go to cheering camp instead. Nick’s sudden change of feelings towards the captain cheerleader is so predictable, but I have to give two-thumbs up for the witty jokes especially those including Doctor Rick. Watching them do their routine in their birth suit is hilarious, but is sure as hell won’t make a PG-13 film like it says. Or maybe I’m just being prude. But anyway, love to see Nicholas back on the moviescreen

The Uninvited

I’ve been on hibernation as of date, and been neglecting my routine of posting comments bout the movies I’ve saw. Well, now’s a good time, since I can’t get some sleep. This poor remake of the Korean thriller focused enough to scare teenagers. I never tried to find out why they changed it’s original title, The Tale of Two Sisters, to The Uninvited. It’s as if the original psychological thriller isn’t enough to make my head pound. Emily Browning’s portrayal of the mentally challenged Anna Ivers is not as convincing as it should be. Maybe I’m being biased since I saw the original film. Maybe I am. The movie’s boring as death, with a lot of manipulative chasing through scenes. It’s like Gestalt, but in a movie form. It’s a waste of money. Good thing there’s pirated DVD. Oh, did I sound like I’m supporting
