mommyice’s RanDom pLaY WiTh WoRds: Clutter Inside My Head

Selective outrage from resident drama queen….

It’s funny how three letters can be the center of the news and have the whole country spend millions for each hearing. ZTE…NBN… Or how the 7-year old drama of ousting the president, sending him to jail could just end up giving him a pardon. How lame, right?

For the past years, since I let myself became aware of what’s happening in our country, it never fails to amuse me how forgetful we, Filipinos, are. I guess I must not exonerate myself, since there’s no denying that I am a Filipino.

Remember the EDSA 2, which ousted the former president? If my memory is still working properly, the then Vice President Gloria Arroyo, is also subjected to ridicule and protests among the activists.  I can still remember the how the militants demonstrate their indignation against the President, Vice President and, uhm, I can’t remember the senator’s name involved. Then after president was overthrown, the Filipinos, wholeheartedly put the next in line to be our country’s leader. Conveniently forgetting that she was once targeted to be ousted too. Confused?

And now, that the former leader is convicted of plundering, the very same persons who put him into jail are now begging him to accept the pardon. What have we come to? The convicted plunderer is even citing his terms and conditions before he accepts the pardon. Why offer a pardon in the first place? The whole world watched how we threw out the president for the second time around. And now, we’re just gonna let that man walk away with the loot bag on his tail? Amazing. Only in the Philippines.

Our country should be touted as “Contradictory Country.” Why? We have a duly electoral process, but we don’t believe in it. Instead, we depose the same person we elected. Our country is considered as the Asia’s biggest Catholic nation, yet random killings are everywhere. News about slander, graft is unstoppable. Policies involving economy are decided by the non-economic authority such as Supreme Court.

Frustrated? I am too. But I have long known that these are inevitable. And landing a job in another country is the only option to have a stable financial condition for me and my family. We are way past restoring the dignity and integrity of our country. Looking out for our own welfare is my topmost priority.
