tEsTiNg mY StaMinA(6th TOYCON event DAY 1)

by Ice on Jun.16, 2007, under Events

I have had a very long day. Emphasis on the l-o-n-g. And I don’t think tomorrow (or is it today?) would get better.

I forced myself to wake up a 6AM so I wouldn’t be late for today’s event. I was assigned as a team leader for the contest registration booth. I don’t have any idea what I should do. It just falls right into place. It’s like there’s a switch inside my head that finally flicked and I just do what I think should do. It wasn’t that hard. It’s elementary work. Dealing with the contestants, on the other hand, is another story. It didn’t stop there. We realized soon enough that there’s not enough staff to see through the tasks for us event marshals. So from one group to another group, we tread (more like run all the time!) in order to see that the event will run as smoothly as planned. But tough luck for us, it didn’t. And I think there’s just one person to blame, but I won’t namedrop here. *evil laugh* I was amused and amazed at the same time by the way cosplayers nowadays took the art of cosplaying at heart. Some anime character’s costumes are not supposed to be done in real life. It looked like cheap prom dresses on some; while the others carry their costumes without looking like a drag. Some male cross-dressed, wearing skimp skirts, showcasing their hairy legs. *shudder* Other girls showed of some skin; others, plenty of skin. (No comment as of now. I’ll be saving it n my future posts.) Fast forward to 9PM. Nico’s friends picked us up at the event area. They planned to have dinner together with their partners (in Nico’s case that would be me). We stayed at Gerry’s Grill until 11PM. The other guy we were with is so funny (but I forgot his name) that I kept on laughing until my side hurts. (And did I mention I’m suffering with my asthma, which my cough amplified since Thursday? Imagine me laughing at his joke and then ending up coughing loud enough to wake a neighborhood. No kidding.) Just when I thought we’d be heading home, they have other plans. I found myself on Eastwood city bowling area. 12 midnight. And still on the go. My stamina amazed me though my energy waned down on the second game when none of my turns went straight to the pins. They always took right or left turn, which made Nico’s day (or night) by the way. Wow. As we reached home, I can feel myself being sucked to oblivion. It’s 3:30AM and we have to be at the second day of the 6th Toycon event at 9AM. Unbelievable. If this won’t get me bedridden for a week, that is mind-boggling.
